RM of Cana’s story
The Rural Municipality of Cana No. 214 incorporated as a rural municipality on December 13, 1909. It lies in the southeast part of Saskatchewan, and its municipal office is in Melville.
The RM's one recognized historical site is the Home Quarter of the Wotherspoon Farm. The homestead was built in 1905, four and a half miles north of Melville on Highway 47, and it is now being restored as a historical site.
Today the RM is run by an elected council and an appointed administrator, which meets on the second Tuesday of each month. Melville Municipal Airport is also located within the municipality.
